Mental Errors

After watching a majority of the games in my region yesterday there was something that stood out to me in a majority of the games. MENTAL ERRORS! There were too many false starts, delay of games, and holding penalties. For these to be professional athletes, I felt that was unacceptable. I still stand by the fact that the lockout had a negative affect on teams and their cohesion. With that being said, the NFL is six games into their season and at some point teams need to get on the same page. Mental Errors can be detrimental to a team's momentum. A team can be driving down the field until suddenly they are plagued by two false starts and now they are moving backwards. Unacceptable! There is something to be said about self-control as a team. It's not always that teams are being "out-played" or "out-coached." Sometimes there are internal issues amongst a team. This week, the entire NFL needs to work on some of those issues.

Fantasy Football Woes

My friend invited me to participate in his Fantasy League this year. Surprisingly, this is my first time participating. I was a little stressed because the whole draft happened during my family's "big" move. So, I was down on internet for a while and wasn't really able to manage my team to the best of my ability. Needless to say, I ended up with some pretty good players... THEN EVERYTHING WENT DOWN HILL. My starting QB, who by the way WAS Peyton Manning, is out!! Peyton out? What? He has started EVERY game in his career and the year he ends up on my fantasy team, he wants to be out. Okay, so that means I'm on the search for another QB seeing that my back up was Matt Cassel or Kassel or Castle. So needless to say, I went on a mad hunt for some free agents. Cam Newton had a stellar performance in his debut lost...and then he gets hurt! I had a pretty decent receiving core and then Mario Manningham, Desean Jackson, and Calvin Johnson got injured. Then there's ...

Big House Under the Lights

On September 10, 2011, Michigan played Notre Dame in their first night game. The Big House was under the lights! I wasn't lucky enough to be in Ann Arbor but I could feel the electricity all the way in Alexandria, VA. I watched College Gameday and ESPN that entire morning and listened, in dismay, while almost every commentator believe that Michigan had no chance of winning. I will not lie-I was nervous but I like Brady Hoke and believed that he was able to bring about positive changes in the Wolverines. During the 1st half, Michigan looked confused. Denard looked stifled and uncomfortable with being a pocket passer while the defense seemed up to their old antics. I struggled to comprehend how the Wolverines were going to let this big stage control them like that...and then the 2nd half started. It was a completely different team. Denard was inspired and looked more comfortable. He made better decisions and used his feet to make plays. The defense played with so much heart. Yes,...

NFL Preseason

The NFL Preseason has officially started and I'm too excited: The only bad thing is that I have to work during most of the games: My disappointment is neither here nor there. I have never really had a favorite NFL team but I have always loved Michael Vick (I even have the Atlanta Falcons #7 jersey to prove it!) Needless to say, I was ecstatic when he made his return to the NFL with the Eagles. Because of Vick, I have been more inclined to watch the Eagles and I must say that I have been impressed (I won't say I'm a fan though for fear of being placed on the bandwagon!) With that being said, the Eagles have gone on a shopping spree in free agency! Here's who they've acquired: Nnamdi Asomugha: Cornerback Jason Babin: Defensive Lineman Vince Young: Quaterback Steve Smith: Wide Receiver Ronnie Brown: Running Back Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie: Cornerback Anthony Hargrove: Defensive Lineman Ryan Harris: Offensive Tackle Johnnie Lee Higgins: Wide Rec...

College Gameday!

I have been anxious this summer because of two things: 1. This NFL lockout had me under the impression that there would be no NFL season! The nonsense! 2. Michigan has a new Head coach! For those who are not aware I am a Wolverine...it's in my blood! No, literally it is. My parents both graduated from the University of Michigan, my father in particular left his legacy by being the all time tackle holder (no one has come close to his record.) So, when I set foot in the Big House for the first time, it had a completely different meaning to me...but enough with sappiness. I loved Lloyd Carr as a coach. Even when seasons started to get a little rocky, I still supported him. I agreed that he needed to update his coaching style and become a little less predictable but I was not for rushing him out. For one, he was pretty established at recruiting and I knew that some of the players that committed to playing under him wouldn't be too happy with him leaving, and second it was cle...
