OKC vs. Heat

It's FINALS time baby!!!

I haven't been able to fully watch the NBA like I have in the past, but was able to catch up towards the end of the season and watch a slew of playoff games. The playoffs caused for a lot of drama and emotion. I was impressed by the different types of teams that made it this year. The Indiana Pacers (an almost forgotten but scrappy franchise), the LA Clippers (a new and flashy team), Boston, Lakers and San Antonio (seasoned veteran teams with years of experience under their belts.)

But none of which are contending this year for the 'ship!

This year, we have the Oklahoma City Thunder facing the much anticipated Miami Heat.

I am not a Lebron fan nor am I a Lebron hater. That boy has a MEAN game! Which amazingly he was able to improve during his time in the league. However, I personally don't appreciate some of decisions and actions. I think he had every right to leave Cleveland. He was no longer happy and felt he couldn't grow anymore there. Fine. You're a free agent. Make the best move for you. But I don't think the live televised broadcast was necessary. I feel that his teammates and coach (the ones shooting with him in the gym) deserved a little heads up on his decision to leave. They would have been better prepared. Okay. the fans had a right to be upset. I guess. I mean they did martyr this man (but that was their fault. He's an athlete for goodness sake.)

This post is not so much about my like or dislike of Lebron, but more-so about the complete massacre this man takes everyday in the media! He has scored over 30 points in both finals games thus far (I won't even talk about what he's done during the entire playoffs) and still he gets dismissed. Could he do more? Maybe although at this point he's basically doing the work of two players.

Look. I don't care for his blatant disrespect for the game and I can see how great of a player he is!!! Just fall back a little bit. When D. Wade had 6 points one game, Lebron carried that team to the best of his ability and everybody wanted to shed tears for Wade being 'injured.'

All I'm saying is give the man something. He is showing a side to him I never thought existed. He's showing heart and that he wants this championship-not just that he 'deserves' it. I'm impressed.

Breaking News: NFL hires first female coach....well, sort of

I have received  this link  from numerous friends and cohorts, with all of the well meaning intentions possible. You see, I am currently a doctoral student in sport management at THE GREATEST UNIVERSITY, with a focus on uncovering why there is such a severe lack of underrepresentation of Black women in athletic administration. While my particular focus is on women of color, mainly due to the fact that there is a lack of research on this population, I am always excited to hear about women in general that are 'moving the needle'. Over the summer I was excited to hear about Jen Welter  being hired by the Arizona Cardinals.  A woman on the sidelines?  Working with linebackers? WHOA! And then...I actually read the article.  Coach Welter was only hired on a temporary basis. She was an intern during preseason and training camp. As is also the case with Coach Kathryn Smith, who was hired in as the Quality Control-Special Teams Coach (QCC). I must admit, that even...

And So It begins...

Michigan vs. Alabama Go Blue!! I'm so ready! Are you??

Hit Felt Around The World

It reigned in the number one spot on SportsCenter for over 40 weeks. It hurt Wolverines to the core every time it was replayed. It solidified Clowney as a top draft pick. It is The Hit. I watched this game and The Hit was nothing short of amazing. The way Clowney hit Vincent Smith, the way he scooped up the ball with one hand and then attempted to run it back for a TD.  I'm still amazed that Vincent Smith was able to get up after that.  Personally, I thought I he was dead. Not even joking!
